Jay Murphy

Jay Murphy has been developing & implementing conditioning programs for over 20 years.   In addition, has earned a college degree in movement science, P.E. & health education.  Jay is a public school teacher and is working on his masters degree in health education through Emporia State University.

He is also the first to sign up at most strength & conditioning seminars throughout New England.  Furthermore, he continues to ask numerous experts in the field their professional opinions and read countless science based conditioning books.  Jay enjoys dissecting instructional training videos and spends quality time each week in the trenches teaching & coaching athletes.  Over the past 20 years he has worked with and learned from many of the best & most successful people in the business of sports conditioning.  Jay also makes sure he reads at least one article daily from Mike Boyle’s website (www.strengthcoach.com).   Mike Boyle is the strength and conditioning coach for Boston University and works very closely with the hockey team!

(PRC) was founded in 2005 by strength and conditioning specialist, health and physical education teacher, husband and father, Jay Murphy.  Jay’s passion for training goes back to the early 80’s at Hard Nock’s Gym in Amesbury, Ma. with mentor and friend Dave Nock. Jay models useful information from the likes of; Charles Poliquin, Mike Boyle, Gray Cook, Charlie Francis, Mark Verstegen, Eric Cressey, Alwyn Cosgrove and his mentor and good friend Andy Vecillio.

Jay graduated from Westfield State College with a degree in movement science and physical education.  Jay is a P.E. & health teacher and also works as a personal trainer and speed & agility instructor.  Moreover, along with holding certifications in CPR and health education from U-Mass Amherst, Jay is committed to providing all athletes with proven scientific based approaches to sport conditioning.  In 2005 & 2006, Jay and his fellow colleagues, presented, “Designing A Functional Movement Warm-Up For Middle School Age Youth,” at a Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Conference in Worcester Ma.

Jay’s athletic background includes: high school varsity sports (football, basketball, track), running in hundreds of road races & triathlons, completing the 100th running of the Boston Marathon, training in martial arts (karate/judo), years of strength training for sport conditioning, completing a 37 mile run on a 400 meter track at age 37 in 6 hrs. 30 minutes to encourage youth to set and keep goals. Furthermore, Jay has coached football, track, and swimming at the varsity level.  Jay worked for 2 years as a personal trainer at Gold’s Gym and has designed and implemented hundreds of conditioning programs for middle school, high school and college level athletes. Jay also has a strong background in directing speed and agility clinics and teaching young athletes; Olympic style weight lifts, plyometric exercises, running movement patterns, speed & agility techniques, anaerobic & aerobic conditioning.
